The 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) is set to witness a strong showing from BMW M Motorsport, as the official entry list confirms BMW M Team WRT's participation in both the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes. The team is poised to field two BMW M Hybrid V8s and two BMW M4 GT3 cars, marking a significant move in the championship.

Among the first drivers announced for BMW M Team WRT are Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde, who will be at the helm of the LMDh cars. Augusto Farfus and the nine-time motorcycle world champion, Valentino Rossi, will compete in the BMW M4 GT3 cars. Rossi, who will carry his iconic number 46, is stepping into a new challenge after making a successful debut at the Le Mans circuit and securing a win in one of the “Road to Le Mans” races.

Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport, expressed enthusiasm for the team's lineup, noting the combination of experience and skill. He highlighted Rossi’s impressive transition to car racing and his potential to be a crowd favorite in the FIA WEC.

Vincent Vosse, Team Principal of BMW M Team WRT, also shared his excitement about fielding both BMW M Hybrid V8s and BMW M4 GT3s. He emphasized the significance of starting with Rossi in the FIA WEC, describing it as the fulfillment of discussions that began during their first meetings.

The drivers shared their aspirations and excitement for the upcoming season. Vanthoor, set to drive the #15 BMW M Hybrid V8, expressed his dream to compete in the top class of endurance racing, while van der Linde, in the #20 BMW M Hybrid V8, looked forward to his first FIA World Championship experience. Farfus, behind the wheel of the #31 BMW M4 GT3, expressed gratitude for being selected and anticipation for the race in São Paulo, his home city. Rossi, in the #46 BMW M4 GT3, conveyed his excitement about participating in a global championship and the new experience of racing with three drivers from different performance categories.
